Strong effect on vitamin B12 deficiency
A vitamin B12 deficiency is widespread: around one in ten people in Germany is affected. 1 The causes are varied: they range from insufficient intake through food and medication to gastrointestinal disorders and natural aging processes that make it difficult to absorb vitamin B12. T
he health consequences weigh heavily, because vitamin B12 is essential for many metabolic processes in the body. The symptoms of a vitamin B12 deficiency can manifest themselves in different ways, for example in the form of tiredness, reduced physical performance, difficulty concentrating, forgetfulness, mood swings or even irritability. 2
B12 Ankermann® - drug with a unique effective dose
In the case of a vitamin B12 deficiency, the motto is "a lot helps a lot", because only with a high vitamin B12 concentration in the intestine can a sufficiently high diffusion pressure arise, which the vitamin B12 naturally can migrate through the intestinal wall. In this way, enough vitamin B12 can be absorbed by the body - even if absorption is impaired due to certain diseases or medication, for example. With the help of high-dose preparations (at least 600 micrograms), enough vitamin B12 is absorbed to compensate for a deficiency. 3

THESE GROUPS OF PERSONS HAVE AN INCREASED RISK OF DEVELOPING VITAMIN B12 DEFICIENCY:
VEGETARIANS AND VEGANS
Valuable vitamin B12 is found almost exclusively in animal foods. This is why vegetarians, vegans and people who eat little meat often do not get enough vitamin B12 through food.
DIABETICS AND PEOPLE THAT PERMANENTLY TAKE MEDICATIONS
Medications such as metformin for diabetes or stomach acid-reducing drugs (e.g. omeprazole or pantoprazole) can cause vitamin B12 deficiency because they impair the absorption of vitamin B12.
PEOPLE WITH GASTROINTESTINAL DISEASES AND ABSORPTION DISORDERS
If the stomach and intestines are disturbed, many vital substances can only be absorbed with difficulty. The causes include inflammation of the gastric mucosa and chronic intestinal inflammation.
SENIORS
Older people in particular often have to struggle with a vitamin B12 deficiency because the body's ability to absorb it decreases with age.
* The only high-dose drug with 1,000 µg vitamin B12 per tablet.
** In contrast to dietary supplements, medicinal products are extensively tested by the authorities.
