Only 12% have good vitamin D3 levels
Thanks to convincing study results, vitamin D has become increasingly important in the last decade. When the sun's rays are low, however, the body's own production of vitamin D in the skin and the intake from food are usually not sufficient. The German Society for Nutrition (DGE) alone has therefore quadrupled its intake recommendation to 20 µg (800 IU) of vitamin D per day. The aim of the DGE is to achieve serum vitamin D levels of over 50 nmol/l. For many experts and institutions, however, these figures are not sufficient.
Just 12% of the German population have vitamin D levels of over 75 nmol/l, which the Endocrine Society (one of the oldest and most important medical organizations in the world) and various experts regard as good.4 The Endocrine Society recommends that adults take
the daily intake of 37.5-50 µg (1500-2000 IU) vitamin D. The well-known US Medical Society for Geriatric Medicine recommends that all people over the age of 70 take 100 µg (4000 IU) of vitamin D daily to reduce vitamin D levels ≥ 75 nmol/L. This corresponds to the daily intake of vitamin D from all sources for people aged 11 and over, which the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) has determined to be safe (tolerable).
4Rabenberg et al. BMC Public Health (2015) 15:641; Good vitamin D level ≥ 75 nmol/l 25(OH)D, according to Holick et al. J Clin Endocrinol Metab (2011) 96(7):1911-30.
1 drop dr Jacob's Vitamin D3K2 Oil contains 20 μg (800 IU) of vitamin D. However, if required, a higher vitamin D dosage is also advisable.
Why do we need the combination of vitamin D3 and K2?
Vitamin D is needed for the maintenance of bones and teeth, the functioning of muscles and the immune system, and normal cell division. Vitamin K also fulfills important tasks in bone metabolism and, together with vitamin D, is important for the maintenance of normal bones. Vitamin D3 causes the formation of osteocalcin. Vitamin K2 is needed to activate osteocalcin. Only activated osteocalcin can actually incorporate calcium into the bones.
Vitamin K2 also activates MGP, a central calcium-binding protein in the vascular wall and connective tissue. In addition, vitamin K2 supports normal blood clotting by enabling the formation of both clotting factors and anti-clotting factors, especially protein S.
That in Dr. Jacob's Vitamin D3K2 oil contains long-chain vitamin K2 in the form of all-trans menaquinone-7 (MK-7) and is particularly bioavailable. Vitamin K2 works in the body about 50 times longer than K1 and is hardly absorbed in the German diet.
Best quality at a fair price
Dr. Jacob's Vitamin D3K2 Oil is made in Germany. More importantly, the raw materials are of the best pharmacopoeial quality: the vitamins used are produced in Europe.
One bottle contains 640 servings. 1 portion corresponds to a drop of 20 μg (800 IU) D3 + 20 μg K2 (all-trans MK-7).
Best interaction: The ideal partners of vitamin D
Not only vitamin D3 contributes to the maintenance of normal bones, but also vitamin K2. Both have a synergistic effect and should best be taken in combination (as in Dr. Jacob's Vitamin D3K2 Oil, Dr. Jacob's Vitamin D3K2 Oil forte and, in the case of an increased vitamin K2 requirement, Dr. Jacob's Vitamin K2D3 Oil).
The calcium metabolism interacts closely with magnesium and potassium. Magnesium supports the maintenance of normal bones and the normal function of nerves and muscles. Potassium contributes to the normal functioning of muscles and the nervous system and to the maintenance of normal blood pressure. An undersupply of these minerals is common. Therefore, vitamins D3 and K2 are best combined with the right minerals, as listed in Dr. Jacob's base powder are included.
