Eucalyptus oil stimulates the fine hairs of the upper respiratory tract to move faster . This makes it easier to remove stubborn mucus and makes it easier to cough up. At the same time, eucalyptus reduces coughing spasms. Because of these properties, eucalyptus oil is used to treat colds.
