What should you consider?
- The medicine itself may cause a feeling of stuffy nose. If you try to eliminate this feeling with the help of this remedy, you risk permanently damaging the nasal mucosa. The effect can already occur after an application of 5-7 days.
- Preservatives (eg benzalkonium chloride) can cause swelling of the nasal mucosa if used for a long time. If such a reaction (persistent nasal congestion) is suspected, a preservative-free nasal medicine should be used.
- There may be medicines with which interactions occur. You should therefore generally tell your doctor or pharmacist about any other medicine you are already using before starting treatment with a new medicine. This also applies to medicines that you buy yourself, use only occasionally or have been using for some time.
How does the ingredient of the medicine work?
The active ingredient pulls the dilated veins of the mucous membrane of the nose and eyeball together again. As a result, it throttles the excessive blood flow to the olfactory and visual organs and swells the mucous membrane. Patients can breathe more freely through their nose again. Also, it doesn't run all the time. Annoying redness and non-specific irritations on the eyes disappear.
